Blackmail imageHitchcock’s silent masterpiece.
My score was commissioned by Cinema Rotrovato, orchestrated and conducted by Timothy Brock and subsequently performed in London at the Barbican and the British Museum, Auckland, Midnight Sun Festival, Lumiere Festival, Lyon, Odessa (to an audience of 25,000) and Autumn 2015 in the US.

Full orchestral score:   2+ Picc. 2.2+Altosax.2., 4.2.2.1. Timps. 3Perc. Hp. Strs – percussion specifically playing Celeste, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Tubular bells, Tam Tam, Cymbals, Crash cymbal, Side Drum and Concert Bass Drum. The string make-up is 16.14.12.10.8.

18 piece-orchestral version, flute/piccolo, oboe, clarinet/bass clarinet, bsn, 2 horns, piano/celeste, 2 perc (incl timps), 4 violins, 2 violas, 2 vc, bass – the percussion, specifically, is Timpani (3-4), Xylophone, Tubular Bells, Glockenspiel, Grancassa, Snare drum, Tambourine, Sus. cymbal, Large cymbals (piatti), Tam-tam, Triangle, Ice Bell (Boxing bell)

Anthony Asquith’s great silent feature – my score was commissioned by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Barbican Concert Hall and premiered in 2011, subsequently being released on BFI DVD/Blu-Ray.

CHARLIE CHAPLIN – EASY STREET

Commissioned for the DVD/Blu-Ray release of Chaplin’s Mutual comedies, this has been very well received and is written in the style of Chaplin himself.

18-piece version – Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, 2 Horns, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, strings 2.2.2.1

CONCERTS FOR ACTORS AND ORCHESTRA

Commissioned by BBC Radio 3 and 4 and performed by the BBCSO live with full cast for radio broadcast, these are perfect live concert material.
Adapted by Neil, the score fits exactly to the scenes that the actors read and the music is played as continuous underscore.
